These theme songs were viewed as iconic because everyone who heard these tunes could easily recall t and scores for Starsky & Hutch, Banacek, The Rookies, Fish, S.W.A.T., Big Hawaii, and many more. He was also the music director for the American Movie Awards, Kennedy Center Honors, Grammy Awards, and even the Oscars.  Son Dan is a celebrated rock and jazz guitarist who performed on recordings of the Barney Miller and Rockford Files themes and one of the greatest session guitarists or all time who has performed with Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, Three Dog Night, and many others.
