Dale Olson was a Hollywood publicist extraordinaire who was a fixture at the Cannes film festival for 20 years.  He represented over 150 films, led many Oscar-winning campaigns and the launches of the Rocky, Superman, Rambo and Halloween franchises.  Hollywood's biggest stars were clients - Clint Eastwood, Laurence Olivier, Walter Matthau, Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe, James Whitmore, Robert Duvall, Rod Steiger, Dyan Cannon, Shirley MacLaine, Gene Kelly, Steve McQueen.  The Mulholland Drive home of Olson and his partner, Eugene Harbin, was renowned for its incredible industry parties.

In 1954 Olson became the first man to self-identify as homosexual on American television.  He was an LGBTQ+ industry pioneer, building acceptance of the community and increasing AIDS awareness and fund-raisingIn 1985 Olson persuaded his client, Rock Hudson to openly acknowledge he had AIDS and help put a public face on the epidemic.  Olson received many awards and accolades for his achievements and was President of the Hollywood Press Club in the early 1960s.
