Original handmade and printed poster announcing the launch of the first "unofficial" Brazil edition of Rollingstone Magazine in 1972. This early, unauthorized version aimed to bring US/UK rock coverage to a Brazilian audience during the military dictatorship, often operating in a challenging media environment.
Clockwise from upper left corner, Roger Daltry of (1970), Jimi Hendrix (1969), Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad (1970-71), Nathan Beauregard (1969).
An unofficial, short-lived edition of Rolling Stone Brasil was published starting in 1972, following the global expansion of the countercultural publication. This early, unauthorized version aimed to bring US/UK rock coverage to a Brazilian audience in the early 1970s, a time when Brazil's progressive rock scene was flourishing despite government censorship. It served as an unauthorized, independent effort, distinct from the official, licensed publication that appeared much later in Brazil.
From the collection of Ana Maria Bahiana, distinguished entertainment journalist for over five decades, who, when still a university student, was employee #1 at the first, "unofficial" Rollingstone Brazil in 1972.
